Talent News

We are delighted to share the news that one of our most in-demand speakers, Martin O’Neill, has been inducted into the League Managers Association Hall of Fame 1,000 Club.

The club, which only consists of 40 people, celebrates managers who have reached the remarkable achievement of managing over 1,000 professional matches, a feat Martin has reached across four decades.

After a successful playing career, which included a league title and two European Cups with Nottingham Forest, where he played under fellow LMA Hall of Fame inductee Brian Clough, Martin turned to management.

During his career, he took the helm at a number of prestigious clubs including Leicester City, Sunderland, and Aston Villa, as well as the Republic of Ireland national team, winning promotions, cups, and fan’s admiration along the way.

But it is at Celtic where he enjoyed some of his greatest managerial triumphs. Appointed in 2000, Martin led the Hoops to a first treble in 32 years in his debut season, and went on to win seven trophies during his five-year tenure, as well as leading Celtic to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

The Celtic story has come full circle this year too, with Martin returning twice as Interim Manager. And it is during this latest spell that he officially surpassed the 1,000-game milestone, with more than 300 of those matches coming in charge of Celtic alone.

Martin joins a number of legendary names in the 1,000 Club, including Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby, as well as fellow Red Shoe talent, Harry Redknapp and Ian Holloway.

Congratulations Martin, what an incredible achievement!
