Bio:

Kevin Lynch is a former professional football referee and highly regarded after-dinner speaker who spent over thirty years officiating, becoming one of the most recognisable referees of the 1990s.

He took charge of some of the era’s most high-profile and notorious matches, officiated at Wembley three times, and took the role of Assistant Referee at the 1992 UEFA Cup Final between Torino and Ajax.

Lynch became synonymous with controlling high-pressure and volatile situations. His career included involvement in several memorable incidents, most notably refereeing a match between Norwich City and Crystal Palace, which descended into a 21-man brawl. He also holds the Football League record for most red cards in a single match, dismissing five players… with four from the same team.

Popular with supporters and never afraid of showing personality, Lynch famously conducted a full stadium of singing supporters during a match between Leyton Orient and Brentford, a decision which saw him reprimanded by officials but applauded by football fans.

Since retiring, Kevin Lynch has enjoyed a successful career as a after-dinner speaker, sharing entertaining, insightful and often humorous stories from his time on the pitch. He has also served as President of the Association of Premier League and Football League Match Officials, and worked as a Professional Referee Coach for the FA.
