Jimmy White MBE is one of the most popular and naturally gifted players in snooker history. Known as “The Whirlwind” for his fast-paced, attacking style, the Londoner turned professional in 1980 and has remained one of the sport’s most recognisable figures for over 40 years.
White won ten ranking titles, including the Masters (1984) and UK Championship (1992). He famously reached the World Championship final six times, including five consecutive appearances from 1990–94, and made history in 1992 as the first left-handed player to compile a maximum 147 at the Crucible.
A former World Amateur Champion, White has also enjoyed success in team events, winning the World Cup twice with England and the World Doubles with Alex Higgins. In recent years he has continued to compete successfully, winning multiple World Seniors titles and regaining professional status during the 2022/23 season, cementing his legacy as one of snooker’s enduring icons.
